2011

In retrospect, the year has gone by fairly quickly, although the moments themselves have seemed like they were taking forever. So many things happened this year. Moments of joy and pure bliss in the company of lovely friends and family, and then moments of pure terror and sadness, also with the same friends and family. Loneliness, abandonment, acceptance, love.

But we move on, life always move on. People come and go, and things change, but the world keeps moving. We all keep on moving, no matter how much we wish for time to stop sometimes.

Here's to 2012, and it's share of happiness and sadness, triumphs and falls.

Love,

Fatima

Gah!

I have an AP US test tomorrow that I really wanted to study and do well on in, but it seems that as soon as I reached my house, I became indifferent about the whole thing. Time flies by and yet I don't mind at all.

Moe Kare!!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Salma is no longer here, the power came back on where she lives so she has to go home because there's school tomorrow. :'( Before she left, she introduced me to the manga above "Moe Kare!!". In short, it's a really good and addicting read - I spent up until 4am last night reading it, heh.

We also watched "Crazy Stupid Love" today before she left. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were so cute, I enjoyed their scenes the most.

I finished all of my homework, so I'm super prepared for tomorrow! Except for fourth block maybe, but that's a different story. I think it'll be kind of good to get back to the normal schedule, this week has felt like a whole month with what all that happened.

I think I need to cut my fingernails. I've been trying to grow longer nails, but it just takes too long to type when your fingernails start to get a certain length and end up getting in the way.
Sorry for lack of proper posting. :'(

Power Outage

After about a week of no electricity, heat, and lighting, the power came back on at about 7:23pm (which was really 6:23pm because of daylight savings). I'm glad that we had the generator to soften the blow of the last few days, but I'm glad the power came back on nonetheless. :)

Salma's been staying with us since Wednesday! :)

Who am I?

Haha, not a deep post. Just the results from a personality quiz. :)

Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.

The seriousness of your love:
You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education:
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Edit: <1/14/2012> Going through old posts and saw this one. The one about the "Seriousness of my Love". "You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. " Brb, rolling on the floor dying of laughter.

Hello Again

image via tomokyo-blue

It's been a long time since I've last posted - around three months actually. This summer hasn't been the best, problem after problem really. People getting sick and the horrible thing that happened on July 22nd. But I suppose there's nothing else to do but wait for the conclusion patiently. Everything that happens does so for a reason, and although I've taken to over thinking things and getting myself worked up about it, I think I'll just let it go for now. I'll do what I have to do knowing that I've done all that I can.

I've been volunteering lately, and although I had my reservations about it (it seemed more difficult on paper than it actually is) I'm comfortable with it now. I used to get lost a lot, and riding the public bus still makes me feel uncomfortable, but the job is now easy and I know my way around. The cafeteria food's not that bad either, despite the bother that is my id card not working for most of the time that I was there haha. I kind of regret not being able to meet my volunteer term to its close, but various things are preventing me from going. Oh well.

I went to see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Pt.2 last weekend (on Saturday) with Dodo, Salma, and Fatiha. Popcorn with caramel drizzled over it tastes surprisingly good (Y) and we powered through so much popcorn that my jaw started to hurt later on. :) After the movie, we went to Bath and Body Works (it seems to be a regular stop after movie, heheh) but because I couldn't remember what I wanted from there, we went to Target to pick up some earbuds, then we went to Victoria's Secret and I bought stuff from their 5/$30 sale. Went back to Bath and Body Works and bought one of their shimmering body mists (they were out of the sweet pea one so I opted for the cherry blossom scent :c), then went to GameStop for a game I wanted to play + one for my brother. Ahh, my head hurt from all the scents and I sprayed Dodo in the face with one by accident ahaha. =X Much love to her for her patience that day! ♥

Salma, Fatiha, and I went home later and Salma and I watched My Little Black Mini Dress. I can't wait until we finally have that movie session that we had been planning to have for a long time. This summer was just not ours for fun! Now that I think of it, next summer will probably be full of college tours for senior year and research -sigh-.

I have to finish some work for my mom, so I'm going to end the post here. Eh, the only things I have to "look forward" to for the rest of the summer are the piles of school work that I have left untouched!

Updating is Updating

My father and I are the same, ruthless when angry and then easily guilt struck. Hopefully some things dilute with age. Anyway, I hit my index finger on a wall (I don't even remember how..) and now the fingernail hurts and the dark line is slightly returning...

I should be doing math homework right now and preparing for my quiz tomorrow. Instead, I spent today nomming on barbeque potato chips and watching movies. I watched "Letters to Juliet" and "Heartbreak Library". The first one was OK, and the second one was actually pretty good. I personally thought Charlie was a good character probably because of his British accent, ahaha. He seemed like he changed his mind really quickly a lot though, fickle they call it? Lee Dong Wook was just extremely precious in "Heartbreak Library" though, he and the gorgeous Eugene, along with the unconventionality (is that even a word..?) of the love story just really sold it for me.

Also, it made librarians seem really cool. Or maybe it's just in that it's more of a pro seeming job everywhere but in the U.S.? Actually, I'm just lacking knowledge in the expertise and job description of librarians, aren't I?

I've been trying to heal my fingers from my "cannibal biting", but it's a really slow process. I hope I haven't permanently damaged the nailbed from all the trauma that I inflicted upon it.

Just read the recap for Lie to Me episode 3. I hope it picks up soon, I think that the next episode will be more exciting.

Everybody hurts just a little too much

(blossomworld)

In order to celebrate the end (WOO! :D) of my AP tests, I decided that rather than just staying home, possibly watching dramas and doing nothing in particular, that it would be nicer to spend the day out with friends and catch a movie. I was browsing Barnes and Noble's website the other day for books and found out that "Something Borrowed", which I read last winter had a trailer preview available. Googling it, I saw that it had just released. And that, is how Salma, Melissa, and I ended up at the movie theater this weekend.

It was an OK movie, the book was better (as in most cases). In my opinion, the movie made the romance between Rachel and Dex seem really shallow, but I did read the book last year, and so as it's not completely fresh in my mind, the romance actually might have been in the book as well, I dunno.

We took really weird photobooth photos (next time will be better, hopefully..I didn't know that they timed the photos!), which came out that way in part because of my awkward facial expressions and in part because of the, excuse my language because this word fits best, shitty quality of the camera. I might have added to that with the huge scar on my chin from the breakout that I had a couple of weeks ago... :(

My mom lost my apple earbuds with the microphone on them, and so I haven't been able to Skype call (by the way, Microsoft purchased Skype and is now going to call it MS Skynet? Has anyone else heard about this?) Salma. She doesn't remember taking them because she thinks that the similarly colored ones she returned to me are them. I think I'll have to buy new ones, they just aren't turning up...

Oh! I forgot to mention, but after the movie we went to my house to have lunch. It felt kind of awkward because I don't think I was that good of a host...Salma's pretty much used to my house, but I think Melissa found it boring sans my enthusiastic and conversational little brother. Mom made lunch and we had Bengali style tacos, fried shrimp, samosas, and hand made fries.

The End, this is a pretty long update, ahaha. :)

Lately...

I've lost my strength as of lately, and all that's left is a pathetic shell of "used to be"s. I have the desire to make the change, but lack the energy to do so. And I'm a walking contradiction.

Updating

Bah, I seriously don't know what I'm doing updating right now. I've abandoned this blog for quite a while and have settled for randomly updating my twitter with loads of incoherent ramblings, rants, and epic(!) conversations with the Bestfriend and the two stooges. Honestly, some of the funny-s that were discussed on those late night school days when we were brimming with the adrenaline rush of completing our homework in the half hour we have before mummy decides to spontaneously combust with her long ranting/really loud speeches. Well, actually, that's just me because my friends don't seem to procrastinate as much. =\

Anyway, we have a competition to attend tomorrow, but I'm only going for the experience, so it matters not to me whether I do a superb job tomorrow (which I won't, heh) with my group or not. Actually, my reason for re-writing my notes isn't to remember past materials so I'll be well prepared tomorrow - it's just because I'm tired of being the kid with the messy notebook and the barely unreadable notes. How I wish for the effortless neatness of Dodo's notes. Her handwriting is what Tyra would call "ugly pretty". It's not the best thing in the world, but I find it extremely nice to look at because of the way the handwriting looks. /rambling and senseless bumbling.

Currently I'm reading the book that my cousin got me "Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" for my birthday. I also got a "Wreck this Journal" that I'm looking forward to artistically wreck, and Haruki Murakami's "South of the Border, West of the Sun", which I really want to read because I love Murakami. But I started Cousin's book first, and so that I will finish. It's pretty funny and I like the writing style, so no loss. I'm also reading another book from the Oprah Book Club for one of my classes - but I finished that the day before yesterday because I skipped through a lot of the boring ending parts. In fact, I couldn't understand the ending much until I read part of what I skipped today on the bus ride home.

It's late, so I'm going to hit the hay. I need to stay healthy, especially after February's scare.

Changed my blog layout as well. Jajaja!

P.S. Feel better Bestfriend, I love you. x

Where Shu-Shu at?

(via shockdays)

Updating is updating, and this is an uberly short post. I haven't been watching any dramas lately. I watched "Kiss Me Kill Me" during the snow day on Wednesday, and that was alright, I guess, but other than that, no. Well...I did sample "The Painter in the Wind" up to episode 13 (WAT player doesn't work...even though the video is "available") the day prior to the snow day. Salma keeps recommending the original "High Kick", so I might snuggle into bed and watch an episode of that. Maybe.

With my love of dramas, I've been ignoring anime. I haven't really watched it since 8th grade, and even then sparingly. It was my "boom(?)" back in 6th-7th grade, however. It's interesting to see how interests shift and change throughout the years. However, in October I was watching Kuragehime. It had a cute, addicting feeling to it. Here's to hoping and waiting for a season 2 - the manga hasn't even reached the state that the anime was in. That or, as usual, the U.S. updates just haven't gone that far.
